Travelling

I am organising a family trip this Christmas. We have done the East Coast of USA and were planning Europe but after a brief (week) trip to Philly & NY a couple of weeks ago my children are now keen to go and do the West Coast probably starting in NY going up to Boston and then down to Florida ending in a cruise around the Bahamas. We would be away 3 weeks approx with two travelling and one on the cruise. Is there plenty to see coming down the coast and what do you suggest. Where would be best places to spend a little time already looking at Philly, Washington, where else would be a great experience for 16 and 13 year old? Should we motorhome or being winter (having been in that cold March week) would we be better off driving and stopping in Motels. Drive the east coast and loved it? Kids would like a touch of snowboarding as well where would you recommend a couple of days. Essentially — If you go down the coast you should go through the chesapeake bridge tunnel, pop into baltimore and see the great aquarium, stop at ocean beach too and have some fresh lobster.

Travelling

I am an Australian travelling overseas for four months at the end of this year. My purpose for travel is a holiday with no intention of working. I know that under the Shengen convention you can travel up to 90 days without the need for a visa, but for longer then 90 days do I need a visa? If so, how would I go about obtaining one? (I arrive first in Spain, if this helps). I was happy to learn… As an Australian you can only spend 90 days out of every 180 days in the Schengen Zone. This period cannot be extended and there is no visa you can get to extend your time in Schengen. But, the Schengen Zone does not cover all of Europe and does not include the UK. You don't mention which countries you intend to visit, but it's possible some of these are outside Schengen. So, you could work out an itinerary whereby you spend 90 days in Schengen and the other 30 outside. There can be variations of this, for instance spend 1 week in the UK, 90 days in Schengen, then the final three weeks in non-Schengen countries and/or the UK again.

When you think of summer vacations, you generally picture families with young children. However, the older generation also likes to travel and senior holidays are quite popular. So if you are a senior and you would love to travel this summer, why not consider taking a summer vacation? There are so many different places that you can travel to so really it is up to you as to where you want to go.

Planning a Senior Summer Vacation

Everybody has their own idea of what the perfect summer vacation would entail. So, when it comes to choosing the perfect senior vacation, you just have to think about what it is you would often do. Would you often try something a little different? Just because you are older, it does not mean that you have to settle with a holiday which allows you only to sit back and relax. So if you want to do something different then doing it on a summer vacation would be a great idea. Perhaps you have always wanted to go on a cruise? If so that option is open to you. Whatever you want to do, you can do it and you may even find senior citizen discounts too.

The main thing that you want to avoid on your vacation, are families and younger people. The last thing you want is to turn up to a destination where younger people are rowdy and constantly drinking. So this means that destinations such as parts of Spain and Europe, Ibiza and other built up tourist destinations should be avoided. Also, before you travel abroad you need to consider your health and whether you are up to travelling long distances. Even if you have to stay within the same Country, there is usually still plenty to do and you can still have a fantastic time.

It is always worth researching the discounts that may be available to you as a senior citizen. Many travel companies do offer good deals for seniors and so whenever you can take up these offers it would be a good idea. Just remember that no matter where you go, the main aim is to avoid the younger crowd and to make certain that the destination you are travelling to has all of the necessary attractions that you are looking for.
