I'm planning on going to Vegas this December from Vancouver, and I'm just wondering what some good websites were. From what I can tell… Go to the oldest reservation service in Las Vegas, Las Vegas Reservation Bureau. They've been doing it since 1973.

South Africa Travel

Posted by admin on Aug-30-2011

Two participants in particular, one now suspended who was never resident in South Africa but admittedly worked with the former Apartheid governmentand and the other, an ex pat who also served under the old apartheid defence force, now on his 6th incarnation continue to post old aparthied ideas and blatant racist rhetoric here. One of the question posed expounded the idea of an impending "Night Of The Long Knives" type civil war. The idea that a war is brewing is another racist myth that saw the light of day under the old Apartheid regime who spread the propaganda of "Die Swart Gevaar" and that is still being spread by certain sectors of the old population who supported the white supremacy ideals of the old government. The "Night Of The Long Knives" is another fallacy atributed incorrectly to Siener Van Rensburg by those on the far right. There is no evidence of this in the recorded visions and it has proved that this is a blatant and fabricated lie. Another question posted merely repeats the old "Rooi Gevaar" idea the NP were fond of using against the ANC. The ANC has never been a Communist party although many of it's members received training in the USSR. Though they received training in the USSR it hardly makes them Communist. The reason they received training from the USSR was that the United States was supportive of the former Apartheid government and would not provide them with training to counter the oppressive NP regime's tactics against those who opposed them. The United States supported the NP government in order to combat the growing Communist threat and were willing to overlook the oppression of the greater part South Africa's citizenry so as not to lose ground to Communism. Thus the ANC was forced to look to the USSR to train them. The ANC are listed as a Social Democratic party. Although receiving training in the USSR, even though they wanted to the ANC cannot introduce Communism into South Africa due to the economic system of the country. Socialism is not a political ideology but an economic system. Socialism was not started by Lenin and was started before Communism, so how can it have started from hard core Communism as some suggest? A common mistake is to confuse Socialism, the economic system, with Communism, the political system. True Socialism has little to do with with the mob mentality and criminal redistribution of wealth. Bernard Crick's "In Defence Of Politics" (Continuum Books) provides a thorough explanation of Socialism. The Social Democratic ideaology is a political one that emerged in the late 19th century out of socialism. Unlike socialism, which aims to replace the capitalist system entirely, social democracy aims to reform capitalism in order to remove its perceived injustices. The fact that many members of the ANC are Communist party members also do not mean the ANC is a Communist party – merely that members of it are. The old apartheid ideas mentioned in the question are stated. No mention has been made of crhyme or violence in this question. Nor of AIDS. It is indeed the right of all South Africa citizens to question the government. Mention of the old South African defense force is made in the context of certain sectors of said defense force being used to implement many of the injustices of apartheid against those who stood against the oppressive ideals of the former government. When one man kills another he is a murderer. But dress him up in a uniform and accompany his killing with trumpets and he becomes a hero. The childish name calling always seems to issue from the mentioned user first, as do the personal attacks. However this is normally accompanied by statements like, “This is not an insult, I’m merely calling you what you are. ” This question deals specifically with two previous questions posted recently – no others. The only satisfactory answers to the user you mention are the one’s that agree with his viewpoint. Valid points are raised but they are surrounded by overgeneralizations, exaggeration and certain ideologies in keeping with much of the rhetoric of former NP members. No form of violence is acceptable. However, those who often raise the point that the ANC were a terrorist organization conveniently forget that for 49 years the ANC, which was based on Gandhi’s Satyagraha (non-violence) practicing Indian National Congress, was a non-violent organization. Only after using non-violent means in approaching the government over the course of those 49 years to stop oppression of non-white South Africans and meeting with violent action against them did the ANC then form its military wing. This does not condone their actions. In departing from non-violence the ANC came to resemble the monster they fought. I was happy to learn… Hi there, I was banned by americans that did not like my observations regarding Iraq. Alf garnett was never anyone to take seriously as he has no idea of the condtions in SA. He used to whinge about things that he read in the papers. First hand he knew jack squat and sensationalism sells news, we all know that. His second observation about 2010 not going to take place and will go to Ozzie I reject with contempt as there is no reason why it will not take place. We have the money, we have the expertise to construct the stadiums before 2010. Germany, Japan/korea, Australia were all still working on their stadiums up to a month before the respective games were to start. Brad likes to stir. That is how he gets his thrill for the day. If you read his other post in other sections it is the same. If you dont agree with him he tries to trash you. His viewpoint on for eg the Iraq/Iran question is that those people are all backward savages and must be nuked. He is also of the opinion as are americans that american lives are more valuable than others nations peoples which I also reject with contempt. His info and people who are in agreement with his views are generally obtained from the press which report on it it great fanfare to sell their products or it is obtained from websites that have no credibility whatsoever eg Crhymeexpo. Co. Za. The other source is expats who have left for whatever reason who congregate with each other and have a "when we" attitude. I live in EC. I have NO armed response, no high walls,no guard dogs(unless a Worsie is classified as one) my children of 2 + 5 walk around and go to the neighbours at will. My house doesnt get locked and I have not been attacked threatened or been in danger at all. HOWEVER we have crhyme with a high level of violence that is unacceptable. I compared the british crhyme stats with ours as we both have similar population levels circa 50 million or so. General crhyme they are far higher than we are eg 1 million housebreakings as opposed to 300 odd thousand and the same for all crhymes except violent crhyme where we are the undisputed world champs. . . . . . . HOWEVER if you look at the violent crhyme and murder in particular 95% of murder is committed by black people on blck people who most times are known to one another and alchol is involved or it is a tiff between lovers or there is infidility. (18 years experience in police). The reason for this is poverty, lack of education and lack of respect caused by the policies of the national party government. In the 13 years of democracy we have achieved far more than any other country in the world and we are further ahead than russia, old east germany other other soviet bloc countries who have been independent for far longer. We are further along the line even than Poland and brazil and other South and Central american countries. Our standard of living is way better than it was in the 80's and even the 70's to a certain degree. . . . . I am refering to All the inhabitants and not a specific segment. Inflation is 6-7% as opposed to 25% in the eighties. We have more of everything available to us than we ever had. The trade defecit is neglible. . . . In Oct it was R156 million rand. In the eighties we were bankrupt as a nation. Personal tax is the lowest it has ever been. . . . Ever. We are welcome anywhere in the world unlike the US and to a lessor extent the brits. We have international sports available to us. Regards the remarks about aids I agree that it is a problem in africa and in SA. However my point of view is in majority of cases it is self inflicted and the sufferers dont have my sympathy. . . . . . . HOWEVER in my view there is a spin off to it in that the more people die of it the more work is created in the long run and unemployment comes down. I will probably get a lot of flak about this BUT it is my personal point of view. A bit of backround. . . . . I bought into the apartheid system I believed all the lies I voted at one stage as an english speaker for the old HNP party. . . . . . . . I have seen through all the lies of then and see the hidden agendas of the parties of that time. A lot of americans are now in the same boat in that they actually believe the lies Bush and co put forword to do the Iraq thing and the true agenda is now brought to light. My view on the whole 9/11 story is that america brought it on themselves through their foreign policy, but that is not for this section of answers. THIS IS A GREAT COUNTRY AND WHEN CRIME IS SORTED OUT WE WILL BE THE BEST. There is more direct foreign investment than there has ever been in the past eg Barclays/Absa, the V+A and many more(cant remember them all and if this country was going down the tubes there is no way in hell those foreign corporations would put a blue bean in this country. . . The shareholders woulf never allow it. PS Trevor Manuel was voted the Best finance minister in the world by the governors of the various central banks as was Tito Mboweni. We have the best constitution and I am not an ANC lackey or supporter by any length or means also read UNREAL HERO I sympathise that you have had these things happen. . . It is not something to be taken lightly and I dont Regards the criminal mentality. . . . . . . . The criminals are generally but not limited blacks(male) and in the age of about 16 to 45(approx) In the previous government policies black people were not allowed to move from area to area for work. It changed later and I will touch on it just now. The breadwinner/father only had the option to work on the mines or farms or somewhere as a labourer. This resulted in "fatherless" households where mothers or grandparents brough up the children with little or no money. Schooling was seriously substandard and matric in a black school in those days was equivalent in standard and content to St4(i saw the syllabuswith my own eyes in those days). This caused serious malcontent amongst the blacks who were also been forced to study ain afrikaans and in those days all gov depts worked in afrikaans. The result is serious anger and a attitude of resistance to going to school and with the riots from 76 to the early 90's violence was seen as an acceptable alternative to getting something you want/need. . . . . . Whether it be sex(rape) , money(robbery) possessions(stealing) and in those days the present Government encouraged it by inciting it to obtain their objective. The end result is what we have today and today we have to "re-educate" those people as to what is acceptable which is not easy. The problem is as in america and other countries the unemployed, poor people see that the gangsters, drug lords etc have money and "prestige" and what is there options but to do what they do. . . . . Think for yourself. . . . . . You grow up in a squatter camp with no money , food clothes, parents, education, healthcare, shoes etc and the kids across the road have all this and more. . . . . . What would you feel. . . . The lady that irons for us came one day to work with her child of about 5 and when the child saw my house which is fairly modest she said in xhosa. . . . Mom what do these people do with all the rooms in the house. . . We have one room and there are 6 of us in one room. . . . . . . . . . . . Honestly what would you do. . . . . . . . . I know what I would do. . . . . . We are all human. . . . . . . No matter where you stay in the world our needs are all the same basic needs. . . . . . . . . . Food, roof over our heads, money self respect, health, and the best for our children. Getting back to fragmented families you look generally where children grow up in dysfunctional homes what are children like as opposed to functional families. Generally the latter are less violent and embitterd than the former which all contributes to the violence in our country PS BRAD PLS FORGIVE MY TYPOS. . . . . . . . . . . I AM DOING MY OWN TYPING HERE AND NOT THE PA AND I COULDNT CARE IF THERE ARE TYPOS TO BE FRANK
